ASSOCIATION OF PUBLIC ACCOUNTS COMMITTEES (APAC)

Mission: The association’s mission is to develop and share effective and efficient public accounts committees practices without fear or favour - This is APAC’ reputation promise.
APAC’s Vision: is to be an association recognised for promoting credible public financial management, accountability and good governance through effective collaborative legislative oversight.
APAC pursues its vision and mission through the following broad strategic objectives:
i. Promote sound, accountable, transparent governance
ii. Improve quality and performance of public accounts committees in South Africa
iii. Improve capacity of individual members of the public accounts committees to function more effectively
iv. Facilitate exchange of information and views relating to the work of public accounts committees and to discuss matters of mutual concern
v. Liaise with the Auditor General to improve the effectiveness of the public audit service
vi. Pool resources and share the experiences to the benefit of all and promote best practices
vii. Communicate and build relationships with individuals, organisations and forums (nationally and internationally) knowledgeable about matters of concern to public accountability
viii. Provide information to elected representatives, media, general public regarding the purposes and activities of public accounts committees
